This header can be customized in the Appearance Header screen. These settings may be different depending on the active theme and this feature may not be available for certain themes. The Custom Header screen is divided into the Header Image and the Header Text. The Preview area shows what in currently active on the site. In this default theme you can upload a custom image from your computer, select an already uploaded image from the Media Library or select one of the default images. Images used for the header typically have size requirements. For this default theme the size of the header image is 1000px wide and 288px high. Using an image this size will assure that the image fits nicely in the header space. If an image is uploaded from your computer that is not the specified size, a crop tool will activate and you can crop the image to fit the size. The maximum area size in a lighter shaded area.
